As I mentioned the other day, I injured my wrist a few weeks ago and have been to the clinic 3 times now - the first time, xray was inconclusive due to too much swelling so they put a temp half cast on and had me go back 10 days later for a second xray. The second xray showed a paper thin crack in the scaffoid (btwn thumb and wrist - VERY important bone) however there is the possibility that it was just a fluke in the picture but to be safe they casted it and had me book a follow up appointment for the following week. That appointment was on Friday and I had a third xray done, which came back showing nothing. Now, the doctor had just finished saying that most of the time a break onthis particular bone doesn't show on an xray so to know for sure I will need to have a bone scan - which I now have booked for thursday. However, despite this fact, and the fact that the other xray showed a small crack, she decided not to put a new cast on it and sent me on my way.

Now, I'm wondering if any of you have experienced a wrist injury and if you can give me any indication as to what is going on with my wrist - is it a sprain, a strain, a break, or something else?

Since removing the cast, my thumb has been slightly numb, and once in a while my other fingers go slightly numb, my wrist feels warm and tingly almost all the time, and once in a while shooting pins-n-needles -like pain shoots through it where the apparent break might be, my wrist cracks much more than it used to whenever i move it (but not just where the apparent break is), it keeps throbbing, and when I touch the area where the apparent break might be it causes my thumb to go entirely numb for as long as I keep the pressure on.

Any thoughts??
