I am the worst owner ever!
This is what Felix looked like an hour or so ago:

Felix was a stray cat that we found starving to death on our doorstep. Now, there is this lady that lives near us who has a cat named Lucy that she allows to run outdoors (in the middle of Baltimore. She's a real bitch).
We have this big bush in our yard that Lucy is constantly playing in. Being that both cats have hung out in our yard, I have often speculated that Lucy and Felix were once an item.
Lucy is the neighborhood troublemaker, and has a habit of breaking into apartments. She once broke into ours and Felix and her were meowing at each other from behind the door.
Yup. Probably a dream about Lucy.
but I read this quote earlier and it made me smile (for all the cat lovers)
"Cats' whiskers are so sensitive; they can find their way through the narrowest crack in a broken heart."
(sadly... cat's fur makes me sneeze and cry!)
I am almost certain that cats can sense when a person is unhappy, because both of my cats are affectionate as hell when I am down in the dumps.
And she also had a boyfriend, Merlin, a real lanky dude cat, who was an outdoor cat who lived next door. He was assertive, like Lucy, but really personable, too. He'd jump up onto our very high stone windowsills to visit with Billie; he had a big crush on her. When I had to move from that apartment, it nearly broke my heart to split them up.
To the end of her days, if you ever said the name "Merlin" to her, she would kind of half-close her eyes and get all dreamy-looking. She was IN LOVE, forever!!!
our old next door neighbor had a cat that was always in the windowsill. Oscar would always sit i the window across from the other cat and they would just stare at each other for hours.
The neighbor moved a long time ago, and or months Oscar would still be lookin for that cat.
Now for a very funny story:
My brother-in-law used to live with us for awhile He wasn't allowed to smoke in the apartment, but he was always opening the front window and throwing out cigarette butts onto the roof.
One day, he left the window oen as he went to work, and Oscar got out onto the roof. He crawled about five rowhouses over to where this cat was perched in the window. Hubby found him lying underneath the window meowing at the other cat. The other cat was also howling, but appeared confused as to where the meowing was coming from.
Hubby had to crawl out the window and crawl across five peoples roofs to get to him. Some beggar was apparently pointing to Oscar and telling him where he was.
Sadly, I too was at work at the time and missed the whole fiasco, but my brother-in-law was in DEEP shit when he came back from work.
Now That's Funny!!!!!!
On the good news, they seem easily distracted, and it may take thousands of years for them to do this.
But then when I think about cats work their way into our hearts, I wonder if it is not mission complete for them already!
