You didn't do anything wrong. I am also sick at heart. I went throught this last May with Kylan. A child I raised for 5 years called and said he was in jail for marijaui. sp and with intent to sale. To make a long story short We bailed him out. Made him go into therapy. And do other things. He got to stay out of prison. But I watch him like a hawk. Can I help you. 15 year old are practically a bread of their own.

I remember myself when I was young. Just because they go to all the good clubs, etc., does not mean they will never get into trouble.

I suggest that you also keep an eye out on the kids that he has been hanging out with. It is likely that one or more of them, is the reason he was 'lead astray'. As often as not, it could be one that appears to be 'a good kid' that is causing the most trouble, so don't just judge on appearances or style of dress.

Perhaps talk to him about what goals he has in his life. If he has any serious ones, explain to him, that drugs and a drug record will only hamper him in pursuing certain goals, but if he quits now, he may still be able to achieve them. I don't know what else to say. I hope this helps a bit at least.

I agree with Testy. It could be peer pressure related to his friends. Hang in there with him, keep guiding him the right direction. We all make mistakes in life. At 15, he has a lot of growing to do, mentally, emotionally, physically.

I don't know what happened, but you have to keep guiding him, loving him, and growing him into a fine man. Sounds like you are well on your way.

I agree, 15 yo boys can be a different species. :-) Hormones raging, insecurities, need to prove they are men... i would advise you to keep a sense of humor, it's probably not the end of the world, and it might be a one-time thing.

You didn't do anything wrong. I don't know what kind of trouble he got in, but whatever it is, at 15, he knows the difference between right and wrong. Please hang in there. You have my support.

You have done all the right things..these things are bound to happen for various reasons. Trust in what you have taught him...have a heart to heart..how his behavior reflects on you.

He is trying to find his identity...or place...support him but let him know that mistakes can be life changing.

My daughter was caught shoplifting and she had never given my a bit of trouble. The cop read her the rights and basically scared the shit out of her. Let the cops do a lot of the talking..they don't want to see a good kid go bad.

Kids will act out every now and then and that is not a reflection on you. At 15 he is at the height of rebellion from parental guidance and this is all apart of his learning curve.
It is not a case of what you have done before but more what you do next, the right combination of words can stop this happening again.

Be stern but reasonable, explain the whys and what-fors and hopefully he will take it all on board.

I wanted to lock my 15 year old up in her room until she turned 21. Man, did she surprise me with some of the things she did. Went from wonderful kid to superbitch over that one birthday. (I love my daughter, but those were some ugly days) You didn't do anything wrong. Just buckle up and hold on, the next few years may be rough. I don't know what your son did, I just hope he is not in too much trouble, maybe this will scare him back to being who he really is at heart.
