When he's dead is when you are free and bouncing and light as a feather. But how long it took me to get free?
i got freer and freer successively. I smoked nicotine free cigarettes, as a crutch, and that was incredibly helpful. I had something to hand-hold while the nicotine left my system. I think it took 3 months before I noticed I hadn't had a cigarette in a few days. I went and had one... and then it slowly petered out. I broke up with a boyfriend maybe 1 1/2 yrs after quitting nicotine and desperately wanted a cigarette, but had just the honeyrose ones with no nicotine, the urge passed after a few days and I was fine again.
It's nicotine that's the enemy, not smoking. So if you shift your nicotine imbibing vehicle you are still addicted, and it will still raise and lower your anxiety and stress levels constantly throughout your life. the only way to get emotionally on an even keel is to quit entirely. How many times have you blown your stack because you hadn't had a ciggie in a few hours? Those are the things you have to remove from your life, and the only way to do it is to get past the addiction.
I haven't had nicotine now in nearly 7 yrs. The last six years have been very relaxed. I don't need cigarettes, I don't want cigarettes. I think they're silly, really. I think ingesting a toxin that gives you constant ongoing mood swings and anxiety while also giving you lung cancer and heart disease is crazy.
There's actually no benefit to it. It isn't your friend. It's trying to kill you.
And you can smoke nicotine free cigarettes to have that 'something to do with your hands' without feeding the nicotine monster and livening up your addiction.
Anyway I hope it all goes well for you. However it goes. It took me many tries. And a long time. Have you read "Allan Carr's easy way to quit smoking" yet? Everyone should read it. it's a real eye opener.
