Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I am really trying to hold on, because I really don't want to ruin the holidays for everyone. I was supposed to meet with the therapist today, but the receptionist couldn't be bothered to tell me the building was in another place than I had gone previously...of course the bitch will say that I didn't listen because they are all good at CYA (cover your ass). I called to make a new appointment, but they havent called back (naturally), so I will have to call them. I have half a mind to just go to the ER and check in now, if it weren't for the holiday. Then my prescriptions ran out and I do not have the money for copays to refill, so for the last 3 days no antidepressants and I am really feeling it. I just don't care what happens to me anymore. I get attacked verbally at home for going to church...because the kid doesn't like the church....everything I do is wrong. I just wonder if the whole struggle is even worth it.

First, you need your meds. Anti-depressants are a MF to stop taking cold turkey. Get the money, Call family, borrow it, hock something. Second, call your therapist. If he doesn't get you in when you need it, then he ain't worth a shit. Go to the clinic or hospital. Third, you better tell yourself you are worth it or the DS police are going to slap you upside your head!!! lol!

Hello, I am so sorry to hear you're feeling down. I wish I had words to make it all better for you. I'm feeling rather down myself. This may sound silly but do you have a pet, give your pet a cuddle. Or call a friend or family member, you don't have to talk about feeling down, talk about anything. Or call crisis line, I am tempted to do this one myself. I hope things improve for us both

Hi, I know it's a couple of days since you posted - but in case you still need support or for anyone who is in a similar position - "the struggle is worth it". Sometimes when you're in the middle of it and upset or angry, it does't make sense. But please give yourself time. sometimes the body, the situation, the emotions, the medication, family etc. don't always meet in the middle at the right time. But trust from people who have been in the same place (rock bottom) - it always does get better if you hang in there. You get back to a great future eventually (top of the mountain or at least a calm life).

Thank you all for responding...I am back on the meds, and my Dr said the same thing you did, nola...to let him know and they will find a way to get the meds for me. I almost checked into the hospital again, but decided to try to get through the holiday. Back on the job search program, which means my depression may get worse (rejection is a bitch) But I will do what it takes to get better.

It is always surprising to me that others feel like i do. I'm holding on for the holidays too. Playing Christmas music etc. If I hear one more damn jinglebell. . . . . . Anyway life does go up and down. The valleys are so tough. I had to go to the er and I was able to calm down and get away from ppl that say i should be able to get over it and/or myself. SHEESH. And hang in there with the job search. I'm single, a mom and jobless with zero prospects. Let's struggle on.

I am seriously considering checking back in, but first I think I should meet with the therapist--although they would inform her if I went in before Monday. I have a neighbor who would keep an eye on things if I needed to until family could come pick her up, and family and friends who would take me home when ready. Last night was truly awful. My daughter knows I m not right in the head, but she isn't supportive of going to the hospital. I know it's because of she will have to go to grandma, but I truly need a break.
