I can't say that I am sad since I don't watch it, however, I DO know how much it sucks to have your favorite sport in a lockout....hopefully they will get their crap together and it'll start soon!

Can football provide you with some enjoyment? There's going to be a great Monday night game tonight. I'm sorry that one of your favorite recreational activities is being taken away from you because of greed. Don't worry, they'll be back sooner or later.

I honestly don't know why they would do that. Hockey, in America at least, never fully recovered from the lockout in the nineties. It really hurt the sport's popularity and a lot of fans just moved on, I don't know why they think it would be better this time around. Idiot rich people not thinking long term are ruining their product. Oh well!

They throw a octopus, a tradition started by my fellow Detroit Red Wing fans. Anyone know why the octopus is thrown? :)

The octopus was started in 1952. It represented the 8 wins to get the Stanley Cup- there were originally 6 teams. It's kind of a good luck thing. I think Tampa Bay used to throw rats.

The only good thing that I can see coming out of this, is that minor hockey leagues and juniors games will be frequented more heavily. That's always a boost for the small arenas, and the small local clubs.

I hope so. They are just as good- sometimes better- than major league teams.
