Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Give it ample time .. communicate with your doctor so he/she can make any necessary adjustments, and be good to yourself.
these things will ensure some recovery .. in varying degrees.
and welcome to DS and this group.
You gotta give it time.
Welcome to our little group of healing healers. Wade on in; the water ain't deep!!!
First welcome :)
You definitely need to let the meds fully kick in. And if they are the rght ones for you that should help eleviate some of those feelings , if youve been on meds before you know it doesnt cure the depression but makes it easier to cope...
I am coming out of a bout of a severe low for myself..four days of non stop tears pouring down..very strong urge to just get it over with, but your words so identical to mine, i could never do that to my son so i sit self loathing and praying for god to kindly end it for me..
I wouldnt say i picked myself up, or even really kicke my self in the ass...what i did was felt the pain, told myself that it was in fact gonna pass because itz far from the first time ive been that way and it always passes...just have to let it run its course.
I posted here and a couple people had kind thingz to say
I wrote a lot in my journal
And because i had no one to talk to i found this site online :
www.samaritans.org
And i emailed them, they replied by the next afternoon...i basically listed my problems and a breif history, so they had a clue why i wanted to die, and it helped just telling someone anonymously that wasnt gonna judge me
I hope that the severity of your sadness goes away, or diminishes pretty quickly for you. It varies person to person how long episodes last
My very best to those in despair.
This is going to help. I know it. And I will go to the samaritan.org site you recommended. Thank you for being there!
