Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I guess I am needing to talk more about Josh. Just to update those who are not aware, Josh is my 16 year old son who has been in the hospital the past five weeks battling a rare and agressive form of cancer. The thing is we really aren't clear about his chances of recovery. At fist the doctors were saying that this type of cancer is very treatable, that there was an 85 percent chance of recovery. But then my dad found some information on line that said he only had a 50-50 chance which is not very good.
Most of the time I don't think about losing him but today has been hard as the weekends are harder for Josh and he was crying earlier which always breaks my heart.
I am trying to be strong for Josh but I am already NOT a strong person because of the depression. I have always struggled as a mom and do not function all that well.
Josh is not eating much and his white blood cell count is low. If it does not come up high enough he can not have his next scheduled chemo which is on Monday.
The doctors seems hopeful and optomistic and I am trying to not expect the worst. Still it is hard. I only have Josh----just one child-----and Ireally don't know what I would do if I lost him.
Thanks for your support.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
I guess that if one of my sons was there I would be hurting to
I know one thing for sure God will not give you more then you can handle
I all most lost my wife a year ago and the only place I found comfort was on my knees
it gave me peace of mind and hope
I know God is there he never forsakes us we leave him
they told me I was going to loss my wife
I told them she was going to make it
they said it will take the hand of God
She is here at home now
prayer works
I am praying for you and your son
((((HUGS))))
I just wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you are hope he pulls through and you can be strong for him.
I think that it's natural to question your strength right now. You are going through the unimaginable for any mother.
Just the fact that you love your son is enough right now. Don't be hard on yourself because beating yourself up isn't going to help. You need to build yourself up so that you can be at peace for both you and your dear son. I hope that I'm helping bcz I always worry that I'm offering advice when I shouldn't be.
I strongly hope that your son will beat this cancer. It's not fair. Gentle hugs.
Big hugs to you both!
About what your dad read and relayed to you, two things come to mind. First of all, nobody should be going out of their way to find distressing things online and then tell you about it. Second estimates about chances of recovery are very difficult, and often involve subject measurements rather than explicit measurements.
Go with what your doctor told you, and tell your father to keep his statistics to himself.
I look at statistics about cancer survival this way: if I knew 1,000 people facing the same cancer then the odds would help me prepare for how many friends would survive. But you are only concerned about one person, your son. The odds may be a way to help you brace for what can happen, but to speak in the language of statistics, your sample size of 1 is way too small for the odds to mean too much. It sounds like he has a better than average chance of survival, and that should be comfort to you and all who love him.
Gentle hugs
Comforting hugs and love.
