I don't understand myself... I'm really trying to stay positive and motivated but then I make choices that make my depression worse.


Background... I've dealt with depression since age 14.. started on meds when I was 28.  Im 44 now. Tried different meds, the most current works to an extent but makes me so tired and the stomach aches..ugh so I haven't taken it in a week.


I decided I needed a leave from work because of multiple reasons but short story, new owners, new leadership, new boss is a VP and put me down almost always...never met anyone like her. I gave it a full year with new manager and she really affected me.  


Dating..I did not date for 4 years so I can focus on ME and I have no regrets. I was making bad decisions with the men I dated. Fast forward to today... Met someone in November..fell for him hard..bad decision because he is a true narcissistic person.  I let go once and he pulled me back in.


My focus was so good without him in my life, my heart, and my head.  Today I'm so depressed and I have a lot going for me.  He's not worth my time so why do I do this to myself? I break my own heart

Sorry to hear you are going through this. I also have depression, make bad decsions and have a fatal attraction to narcissists. Have you got a therapist of some sort to work this through with? Don't end up like me, broke and broken.

I know this is easier said than done, but the whole point of any relationship is to be mutually beneficial. When the opposite occurs, and the relationship causes chronic distress, it’s time to break free from it.

Thank you both. Last night I made the decision to break free from it. He does not take responsibility for anything he says or does ..it's always me.. and I know that I am a wonderful loving and understanding woman so I won't take that... Yesterday was so tough and I don't want to go down that road again. My ex husband broke me and this feels so familiar...I don't ever want unhealthy like this..

I am not even going to tell him because he will just say nasty things like , you are flip flops, or something like that. Just not answering his calls or texts...I'm more than positive he will get the hint but will never think for a second that he caused me any pain... He will probably call me names.
I don't understand how a man in his 40s with children, can behave the way he does.

I take full responsibility for allowing this behavior to be a part of my life but today...I am done. I am going to be strong.

Seems like you have bounced back which is great. Not sure what your faith is like however I am a Christian and at church yesterday my pastor gave a sermon that pretty much had to do with watching the type of company we keep. He talked about keeping bad influencers, troublemakers, devisive people, and immoral people out of our lives because they corrupt us. Now that he is out of your life, you can begin to focus on you. I've heard that counseling in combination with meds is very helpful. Have you tried counseling? Also I'm proud of you for not dating for 4 years to work on you. That is great. Now you can start focusing on you again and once you have truly healed, i'm confident you will make healthier dating choices. Don't be too hard on yourself. People are good at manipulating others. Sometimes we just don't see it because we have rose-colored blinders on. Now your blinders are off and it is up to you to keep them off.

So when I said I made the decision to cut him from my life, I did not...he manipulated his way back in but of course it was so unfulfilling as it has been. I made a decision Sunday that I was done... I planned to just block him but didn't , so he contacted me today and I told him I am moving on. All he had to say was , if you think that's best...

Wow...but owell..
I hope life has someone for me.. at this point I don't feel like it

Zipper I am right there with in not feeling like there is someone out there for me. I have been single for 10 years, I have only dated twice, and one of those was for about a month, and the other was for about 2 or 3 months. I don't date, cause I know how crushing it is to me when it doesn't work out, I had my child to keep me busy, but now she's almost 22 yo. I have recently felt scary attracted to someone, haven't felt that way in about 18 years, and I don't think that person felt the same, doesn't matter now, but for bit it was painful to me.
