Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
So, this is kind of a long story, so thank you in advance for reading if you do...
I was adopted at the age of 12 and lost my entire family. I was abandoned at the age of 8 and lived with other family until I was put into foster care at 11. My first placement adopted me at 12. My adoptive dad passed away when I was 14. I was devastated. After physical, emotional, sexual abuse, he was the first man in my life to ever treat me like a child and I miss him everyday.
At 16, my adoptive mom met her now husband who had 5 of his own kids. 2, 3, 7, 12, 15. We met their mother who passed away from cancer.
At 18, I moved out of my house (so I lived there for 6 years). Adoptive mom married again when I was 19 to the man she met when I was 16. I got married 4 months after she did after meeting my husband at 18.
So I never lived with the stepsiblings. That's the backstory...
I am immunocompromised and with the shutdowns through Covid, I had not seen anyone since the beginning of 2020. Right before Thanksgiving, the youngest girl called and told me that when she was 11 or 12, (she couldn't remember), my husband molested her. Mind you, she has 3 other sisters (the other sibling is a boy) and my husband has always been around since they were young and one of htme lived with us for a year. Nobody wanted to talk about it, I asked to have a sit down conversation with the parents and her, but everybody kept saying that there was nothing to talk about.
I have worked with sex abuse victims and knowing that she was 11 or 12 (who knows) and she didn't say anything for 6, 7 years, what happened, could have been twisted and misconstrued, so I thought it best for my husband to NOT DENY anything. Not admit anything, just not deny anything. I felt that at that point is was more about her feelings and how she felt than anything and I didn't think my family would honestly think my husband would do anything to a child. (We have been together for 13 years.) Nobody else could think of anything that would even make them uncomfortable, but when I told the parents that my husband denied that anything happened, my adoptive mom immediately told the girl which caused a lot of name calling and horrible dialogue. She called me a selfish bitch and a manipulative cunt among many other nasty comments.
She was 18 and I understood that over time, her story may have grown into something it wasn't and she was notorious for lying... a lot. But her dad went to the sheriffs office and still has not talked to us, now a year later. Come to find out, the family is mad at ME for not showing up at a baptism in February which would have been the first time they saw or talked to me since before Thanksgiving the previous year. I didn't think that was the time to show up, it felt like it was for show for all the outside family. I have asked numerous times for a face to face conversation which has been denied, but they keep asking me (and expecting me to show) at family get togethers, but nobody will talk to just me. The girl has flat out said she is more mad at me than my husband and still nobody will talk to us at all. Now I have been blocked and feel like I lost my whole family again, when I did everything I could to keep it from falling apart.
Was I in the wrong? Maybe I should have shown up but I didn't exactly feel comfortable when nobody will talk to me, I was called horrific names and was told they want nothing to do with me. I have 2 kids BTW and nobody has tried to contact them either....

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...
