Hey all, I'm new here, and just wondering if anyone in the group has tried counseling or psychiatric care online with "Cerebral Online"?  I stumbled across them last night, and #1 they are really inexpensive compared to any f2f counselors/doctors I've ever heard of, #2 appointments are really fast to set up and you get to choose who you'd like  to see based on a photo/short bio., #3 they accept insurance or if "out of network" your insurance may reimburse.  I sound like an ad, don't I??  I'm sorry, it's just that I am excited to give this a try, as care is not readily available in my local area and it takes weeks to get an appointment.  My first appointment with Cerebral is tomorrow morning, and I will be sure to post my impressions and how it went.  Really I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them that they would care to share....Thanks Deb

nope I have never heard of them and I would not be able to use them because of my HMO.....I only can see in network people.....out of network is not allowed...unless under emergency situations....

I had never heard of it, but checked it out after I read your post and it seems like an interesting service providing both therapy and medication if needed. I hope you find it helpful and look forward to reading about your thoughts after your appointment.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I had to change tomorrow morning appt to Tues morning due to unforseen circumstances, but I will still let ya know how it goes.

Would be interesting to hear how this goes. There are a lot of these online/ virtual sites cropping up. I've heard good things about some, not so good things about others.

Hey All, Well the appt with Cerebral actually went pretty well. The counselor I picked was very nice. Asked all the right questions and listened to the answers. She didn't try to force any particular medications, but gave me options based on my desired results and possible side effects, as well as what had been tried previously and the success rate. We came to a mutually satisfactory agreement and my new meds should arrive in a few days. I will only actually meet with her every 3 month unless something comes up, but I have access to her through online chat, should I need to advise her of any adverse effects or positive for that matter. In the meantime, I am looking locally for someone who is covered by my insurance, the nearest, that I'm willing to work with, looks to be about 80 miles away....sigh There is one closer, through a counseling center that I don't particularly care for, as my Grandson was at one time receiving "treatment" there, and they were not addressing the problems in any way only throwing various medications at him and acting like his ADHD and ODD didn't even exist, so I fired the Psychiatrist that he was seeing and moved on to someone else, that we both like much better. I guess the main point here, is that you have to keep trying your options and looking for care until you find the right fit for you and your needs. Don't let someone just throw you a bandaid, when you need so much more.....
