Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I was formerly able to qualify for a publicly funded program to go to a psychologist because I was in between jobs and on unemployment. Now I am working, but my benefits haven't started yet. I make too much to be able to qualify for the assistance I formerly received, but the out of pocket cost to see my psychologist would be ridiculous. I think I can make it until March 1rst, but the health system as a whole is not right.
I wish you well.
To be honest, I can function without it.... for the most part. I prefer to be med-free, but there are avenues of therapy I'd like to explore and I just can't.
Mostly, it makes me angry for those out there that CAN'T function.
But it's no surprise we're supporting any failing system. Sigh.
Now if your ex refused to cooperate with you on the divorce proceedings and you have to file to compel for certain things, then it could get costly. Is that the case for you? I hope that you at least filed for separation so that you can receive spousal support. Not fair for you to be left high and dry financially.
In my area, even those places that have sliding scales according to income, are impossible to get into. I am limited to where to go for providers. Those providers are not accepting new patients.
It doesn't seem right at all.
Hugs to you.
And you're right, it's the most frustrating when you think about how many people are out there who literally can't live their lives without medical care.
I was work-friends with a guy who was severely depressed and schitzophrenic. Long story short, he was in that "gap" where he was making too much to qualify for assistance, yet still couldn't afford his medications. He ended up committing murder. So yeah, it's a BAD BAD BAD deal.
For me it's not too bad right now...unless, God forbid, I need hospitalization. But I can afford the 3-month pill doctor visits for my anxiety pills, and I'm on that Walgreens prescription plan, which cuts a huge chunk of money out of hte price of the pills.
But, it's always in the back of my mind becuase I haven't seen a doctor for years, save for one out-of-pocket visit because I thought there was somethign wrong with my kidneys. Otherwise, it's been those walk-in clinics they put in pharmacies. Which still aren't cheap without insurance.
Okay now I'm babbling...but I totally agree that for those who truly need a higher level of help, it's criminal that the system just basically turns them out on their own. Sad.
i feel sorry for americans. what a broken system.
your right....I would give anything to go to school.....get landed in jail and you can!! for free!
Now you know why it's no big deal for criminals to get thrown back in prison.
I was simply making a point to highlight how bass-ackwards things are.....
hope this helps you
This is why I wanted the US to have socialised health care.
Been here too long and seen too many not be able to get therapy/meds etc because some financier says no.
