Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
It's hard when you lose someone you loved so much. Time will help but you will have days where it feels like no time has gone by. It's ok to cry. Think of your happy times with your Grandpa, cherish his memory and he will always live in your heart.
If you get stuck in your grief though, and feel like you are not moving through it over time, (give yourself time to grieve, though) you may need some antidepressants and/or therapy to help you move through.
How long ago did he die?
i never met my grandfather, it must be such a blessing to have one you love so much... many hugs of comfort...
All the immediate tasks of taking care of things are done...the friends and relatives have gone home and stopped calling and sending cards.
And you are left with life without him, and that is often when full reality of what happens hits home.
So don't be dismayed by your pain and tears right now, it is expected.
It helped me a lot, to write letters to my son, even though I knew he wasn't there, just to get my feelings out.
See if you can find a way to memorialize your grandfather in some way. It will help you get a little closure, and at the same time, keep his rememberance.
If you aren't feeling better in a few weeks, that is when you might want to consider seeing your Dr. and finding out if you need some meds or grief therapy - there are therapists who specialize in just processing grief.
