Meds in the meantime

I'm on day 3 of Effexor treatment. I've been on meds before, so I know they take some time to start working. My question is, what do I do in the meantime? I still sleep too much, don't have much of an appetite, and have no motivation. Help...

When I have stuff like that to deal with I veg out with my favorite TV shows / movies. Then I grab my favorite snacks that Im sure I will end up wanting to munch on at some point during the marathon. Maybe invite some friends over make it a party?

ok yeah it can take a while for the meds to start working, a couple of weeks or more....in the mean time keep telling yourself that things are going to get better, you have made a big step in getting the help you need and now you need to be patient....so im thinking keep coming here and getting the support that you need, and try to be kind to yourself during this phase of you life. try watching funny movies, going for long walks and try getting up a little earlier. but keep telling yourself that there is an end to this that relief is on the way, you just have to get through this hard time. be proud of yourself for what you are doing, and i hope that this med works well for you....

take one day at a time and try and do something positive each day

it can be up to 8 weeks before the meds start working

Try your best to stay positive hon, once the meds work , it will be worth the wait. In the meantime, stay here with us or like others have suggested, watch tv or movies. Hugs and Goodluck Lexi

It's so frustrating, this is my annual relapse into depression (seems to happen every year around this time). Now I just sit around and hope I can get back to normal, if I ever was normal, it's hard to tell. Sitting around watching TV is even difficult. Honestly, I'm really scared, even though I've been here before.

oh hun, try not to be scared....your taking big steps to make things better for yourself. you will do this!!! of that im sure, just take it one day at a time, or one hour at a time.....i hope today is a better day for you hun....

find some activity to focus your mind on. Arts/crafts, TV/Movies, day trips. reading, gardening, thrift stores/flea markets trips, walking or other excercise, volunteering, writing letters, online games like pogo.com etc etc

give your brain something good to chew on so you don't ruminate and such.

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
