Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I had a horrible therapist there, but my old psychiatrist was awesome. I wouldn't mind getting him back.
very good thing to do.
"I have been without my BuSpar for about four days now. The thing is, I feel fine! I can't even feel a difference in taking it or not taking it. Still, I am afraid that it may later have an effect on me. I know stopping SSRI's is dangerous, but is stopping BuSpar?"
A 4-day lapse in medication should not be too hard on you, but get back on it ASAP.
"Also, does anyone know if BuSpar is safe during pregnancy?"
Best to get that answer from your doctor (or possibly pharmacist).
"If I were to start the pill tomorrow, after having been off of birth control for a month, how effective would the birth control be?"
Depends on what pill you start. Again, get that advice from your Doctor. Also, 'the pill' is not foolproof. There have been many pregnancies happen when she was on the pill. If you don't want to get pregnant, I would take ALL precautions.
"She is an ex-nun and I feel like she is a hypocrite. it is displaced anger probably, I don't know."
If you do not feel she is helping, dump her and find another.
"As for my psychiatrist, she seems to be a pill pusher."
Psychiatrists can prescribe medication. Psychologists cannot (in the USA). Therefore, most psychiatrists don't do much more than prescribe medication. That is typical. Keep psychiatrist so you have a source for medication.
"She also got me hooked on Klonopin and has not helped one bit in getting me to ease off of it. I have done everything by myself and I hate her for it."
Here is the "thing" .. She recommends what she thinks will help you the most. If you disagree, you certainly don't have to take her advice. If you choose not to take her advice, then she probably cannot do anything else to help. If you and she are at a impasse, then she is not doing you any good and you should find another. If she IS, keep her and take her advice.
"For those who don't know, I have been spending a year and a half going down on this shit so I can get pregnant."
Thought you wanted to wait until you are better off financially.
"I want NO risk to my baby."
Of course not. Good.
"Does anyone else feel like this towards their doctors?"
Probably
Vet- I am going down in preparation for getting pregnant, but I am not currently trying to get pregnant. I was in better financial shape before I started easing myself off the Klonopin. Now, I just find that I feel better and more productive without it loading up my system.
Donna- I have also worried about what stress and anxiety can do to a developing baby. Still, I am far more improved mentally and I still plan on staying on my Lexapro which is supposed to be safe and possibly BuSpar (which I need info on. My psychiatrist can not find any info on it.)
