Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I'm getting a tattoo as a tribute to my mom on her birthday next month, my dad and brother are also getting them. While I'm happy to be getting it, it kind of forces the reality of her death on me. I won't be able to just pretend it didn't happen anymore.

Maybe it will bring you some closure. So sorry for your loss. Really sweet that all three of you plan on doing it. Stick together if you are close with your fam.

We lost her suddenly last month and she was still pretty young. We aren't all that close but we're trying to get better about that

That sounds really shocking and like a lot to process with her sudden passing. But it’s certainly a big step in the grieving process. Just know that it’s okay to give yourself time to recover from this.

Have you considered GriefShare? It’s offered nationwide so there’s a good chance there’s one in your area. I went after my mom died and it really helped me. Maybe it can help you too.

I've never heard of it, what exactly is it?

I went to GriefShare once a week for 13 weeks but some of the ladies became my friends for life. It was comforting to meet other people who were going through the same emotions I was. I no longer felt so alone. They were a very welcoming, caring group of people. The program gave me the tools I needed to start the healing process..The death of a loved one is one of life's most difficult experiences and it was nice to have others to walk alongside me through it. I looked up GriefShare and it says they help you face the challenges of grief and move from mourning to joy. It’s true. I miss my mom everyday but you can find joy again. Hugs!

Thank you. I unfortunately have issues talking in person and worse in a group setting. That's why I chose to be on here.

There’s videos online that you can watch. They might help and you wouldn’t have to worry about being in a setting that makes you uncomfortable. <3
