Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I have suffered on and off for many years with depression. I am currently stable on medication and in a healthy relationship so my depression is must less then normal for me for the past several years. I take Effexor CR and Abilify and for me that works really well after years of trying many( almost everything) medications on the market. I also attend bi-weekly therapy and that always helps me to have a non-biased person to talk to about my issues.
I have been through a lot in my life. Just a few things I have faced and beat are molestation, child death, abusive parents, abusive spouse, divorce, death of only brother, death of parents. Like I said these are just a few things I have been through and I am still going. Depression is like any other disease and it can be control to a certain extent, but the person suffering from it has to take it upon themselves to want to get better and not let the self loathing, and low self esteem take over them.
I wish you the best of luck and I am usually around during the week if you want to talk more about this.
If the root cause is some sort of brain chemical inbalance then meds are likely going to be a required life long treatment.
If the root cause is a traumatic experience then dealing with that is the issue. If you can overcome the experience then you will be "cured". If you can't overcome the experience then you will need to focus on controlling the things that trigger memories of the experience.
Sorry to be so vague.
