Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I had to do alot of work on myself over the years. I fought it at first and thought I was hopeless. Then I realized that I was it, the only one that could do anything to change myself and my way of seeing things.
Meds are an absolute for me, without them it makes it almost impossible to move forward. I dont see in your profile where you take any. Is it fear that holds you back? I took lots of steps to being well and it took lots of therapy because of my very challenging childhood. But, I have arrived at a place filled with hope and happiness and you can to, one step at a time, but you have to move.
Blessings on your journey. Hugs

Well, the main reason for my lack of meds is my lack of insurance and funds. Also, I tend to develop resistance to medication. Am I afraid? Yes, all the time. However, to change this would either taken a lot of therapy or a miracle. I'm leaning towards the latter as there are few therapist who have dealt with dysthymic disorder in private practice. As for therapist in the public system, I might get an appointment in 6 months, possibly one hour a month. Considering my experience with the emergency public mental system, which shipped me off in less than 18 hours, I douby they'll be helpful.
