Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Welcome. I'm pretty new myself. But as far as how the site works, I would say it's best learned by experience and like messing around with different buttons and stuff until you figure it out.
Have you sought formal therapy, or taken any medications? Seeing a psychologist is often helpful for people. I myself havent much success in reaching remission in these ways, at least not long term remission, but I know they work for a lot of people.
Right now I'm kind of anxious all the time I'm kind of levelled out when it comes to depression though. Probably not for long but yeah, that's me right now. I have definitely been where you are before. Mine started around when I was 12 and I have had so many lows and "not-quite-so-lows" since then. And probably some highs too, it's hard to recognize them when your brain tends to think negatively though, ya know?
Life can be tough but you can overcome the struggles you are facing.
My oldest daughter and I had PTSD. A really good therapy for that is called EMDR. EMDR helps our memories that are still stuck in the present due to past trauma and we can't seem to move beyond those memories. A really good Level II EMDR therapist can help with that no matter the cost.
Whatever situation that caused your PTSD needs to be resolved.
Meds don't resolve the cause of PTSD.
Been there done that. I had 10 sessions of EMDR and it changed my life.
There are answers to your needs. Maybe you haven't found them YET but keep asking, seeking, and looking. I am here for you.
