Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Peace and love, Vanessa
Now, I want to let you know that I understand. I've had mental health issues (namely OCD) likely since I was about 2, and had depression for the last 6 years or so. I know it's INCREDIBLY hard. I am struggling myself with suicidal thoughts and that awful feeling of insufficiency, even though my faith tells me that insufficiency is okay because of God's grace, because mental illness doesn't look at what you believe but attacks your brain and perception of things. The point is it may feel like you're insufficient, but that's just the way you see it right now, and it doesn't mean that's true. After all, doesn't a person sometimes see things that aren't really there, or interpret what they're seeing incorrectly (like maybe they see a shadow and they think someone is behind them when in reality it's just a coat on a coat rack or something)? That's kind of how it is for us right now. We see life as nothing but darkness and pain but that doesn't mean it's the way it really is. I know it's hard, but if we carry on we may be able get to that place where we see things for how they really are. And, if not, at least we may learn to see them a little less negatively. Best wishes to you.
I know it's rough but you have made it this long and you can do this. You're strong, beautiful, intelligent, capable. Do what you can, and that's all you can do.
Coping with mental illness is never easy but that doesn't make you a lesser person to love. You are an incredible being and beautiful too. While you might think you don;t wanna burden your parents, I'm sure your parents is willing to do anything for you. I know I would. Talk to them. Give it a thought maybe? Be well and take care. God bless!
