Does anyone have any experience with lexapro? My daughter,12, was on prozac for 3years and about 6months ago she got worse.anyway the doctor just put her on lexapro and I was wondering how different they are?They are both in the same catagorie but I guess not all antidepressants are not alike?

I don't have experience with Prozac, but I was on Lexapro for years and I can honestly say for me it was a really wonderful treatment. I started suffering depression in high school and I am now 37. I was kept on that medication until about 3 years ago and I actually don't remember now why I was switched. hahaha. The lexapro though had very little side effects for me which was great.
I wish you all the best and your daughter is extremely lucky to have you there to worry about her and care for her. As a parent myself now, I realize what my parents went through and I thank God for them everyday!!!! I see signs of anxiety and depression in my 9 year old and I am terrified. Depression is such a real issue that people that don't have it just don't understand, so I hate to think I might have passed that particular quality down to him. But I hope I can be a support and loving caretaker for him and walk along side him on what ever life brings his way. Hang in there!!!!!
