Yes, caring for an animal can be very therapeutic. But it also is a long term commitment. So if you're not sure that you want to commit just yet, I highly recommend volunteering at a local shelter, socializing withkitties that need loving, or becoming a foster mom for a rescue group. You can then see if it's a good fit for you. I've done both after I was laid off and feeling down. Best thing! Now I have 2 cats and a dog.Remember though, if you do adopt, please spay or neuter the kitty:)

Oh Lord yes, they are awesome. I would say definitely get one. Of course this is if you can care for it properly, but I'm assuming you can...go for it!!!!! You'll have so much fun. You might want to consider a rescue or shelter cat if possible...not only are you saving a life but I swear, they know they're being saved. You might have some behavioral issues to deal with if the cat was abused, which can make them less cuddly (or sometimes it goes the other way, you never know!) but just ask the staff about the cat's personality and what personality you're looking for...those workers are usually very dedicated and know each animal fairly well, so they can point you in the right direction. Go kitties!!!

Kittens are the best. They make the bestest companions. Flower and I sleep together every night and we love each other to bits. She chats and purbles during the night if I toss and turn too much.

Love cats very very much - they don't judge, they love you especially at supper time and are independent beings.
