I would say yes.. go for it... I have never been a cat lover and I am quite old now.. Just a couple years ago I was setting on my back porch and what appeared to be a little kitty that had been dropped off out in the country for Gawd only knows how long was in our field. I called her over and it took a few days and some coaxing but she finally came over and ate.
The next morning she was asleep on the couch.. The little thing learned how to get in our doggy door. She is very tiny but not a kitty. She was prego and four babies... I now have her and two of her sons... I love them to pieces... I could never have imagined it but these guys are my life.. along with my twin grandsons.. go for it..

Yes,very much so,and I would suggest getting one as soon as possible! Just remember they have to be well taken care of so they will be happy and survive!

I adopted twin sisters from the same litter about two years ago. Its one of the best things that I have ever done.

Just having them to love, care for, and have them to love me back has made my depression so much better.

Oh my gosh YES they are so good for our mental health. I have 2 cats and I wouldn't be able to survive without them. When mine was little it slept on me all day and it felt so good. Even today one of mine has been loving on me and makes me feel less sad. Being its prime season for kittens check around at local shelters to see if they have any deals going on.....ours are half off. Just going to the shelters and petting the cats makes us feel good.....there is some evidence to this I just don't know off hand if its endorphines being released or what.

No matter how I feel my cat & dog can always make me feel better. I highly recommend it =)

My cat made me feel more inadequate. lol She was very standoffish. But, my dog thinks I'm the cat's meow, so I'm 1 for 2. :)

I feel useful when I take care of my cat. Even something as stupid as changing her cat box has a way of making me feel good inside. I often feel like no one wants me around, but my cat depends on me so she definitely wants me. When she wants to play, when she wants to cuddle in my lap, it gives me a warm loved feeling. I absolutely recommend getting a kitten. If you trust and love them, without any judgement, they trust and love you right back.

I love cats, and would always recommend a cat to anyone who wants one. But you also need to keep in mind that cats develop very distinct personalities. Unlike dogs, cats are pretty independent, and THEY choose how much interaction they want to have with their human.

My current cat is the most co-dependent cat in the world, so for a depressed, needy person like myself, he's perfect, if not overbearing. But on the other end of the spectrum, I've had a cat that was completely anti-social and I hardly ever saw her. I found her on a street corner, so that might have had something to do with it.

Personally, I would adopt an older cat, like two years old. By then they have developed their personality and you can get a feel for how they will be. Kittens are fun, but they like to destroy things.

YESSSS, if you want to and will be able to care for it, it's definitely a good idea to get a kitty! Pets help SOOO much with depression! The unconditional love, their cuddlyness, their cute, loving personalities, just everything about them boosts my mood and helps me to feel less depressed. I'm not a cat person, but I absolutely love dogs and parrots! I have 3 dogs and 1 small parrot/conure! I don't know what I'd do without them. They make my depression so much better! There is nothing like the unconditional love I get from my dogs and small parrot.

Definitely! I sure do miss my cat and I know she's mad that I couldn't bring her with me when I moved because I can feel her shooting death ray beams with her eyes from here.

Animals ALWAYS help with depression. You can talk to them all day long if you want and they look at you like they know exactly what you are telling them. They love you unconditionally, and you have to love them the same way. I hope you get yourself a new baby!!!

cats bring so much joy and laughter. They play all the time and make life seem more bearable.
