I have ALWAYS been huge into music my whole life !! I have found many bands that speak for me and can say the words I cant come up with to say how I really feel !

These are all awesome bands and if you can actually listen to the words and not be judgmentel on the music you can hear many feelings in the lyrics.

I dont use music for that anymore because it triggers the bad stuff and makes me more anxious. I was a musician so there is so much attached to it so I need to be in a positive frame of mind to enjoy it now. But I use other distractions like computer games :)

I used to be addicted to my ipod, I'd take it everywhere and use it to avoid talking to people. Meds took away my need for it.

I love listening to all kinds of music.. I wish I went out more to see live shows. There are a lot of great local bands in my area. It's amazing what music can do to a person.

Lost: I completely agree with you. I recently stumbled upon an album that sounds like it was written for my exact situation. It's so relate-able that it's uncanny.

Blonde: I'm sorry that music brings bad memories. Is it a specific kind of music? I know someone who can't listen to certain bands because of the memories it brings. It's also a shame since you used to be a musician. I was also years ago. I'm trying to learn new instruments to help with my problems, but I'm having a hell of a time motivating myself to practice.

I am listening to music a lot more again. I've always liked music and play piano too but I've gone through phases of not turning to it as it aggravates anxiety and depression. So it depends. It can help but sometimes it aggravates. But i got an iPhone last year as a gift and It's great because it's portable and I can tune in whenever.
And I have an eclectic taste too depending on how I feel. I have metal, rock, jazz, classical, new age, meditation and so on.

There are times I can't listen to music and there are times it helps me.

i have used music for those times i was so overwelmed i could not express my self and i didnt think i could go on eney longer and i did like you i would listen for houres ...............i dont do that as much eney more i am much better now and because of the migrains my ears are to sesitive to listen to music for to long so i actualy miss my old music .......i think it is a good thing to do it helped me so long as you are not lisining to tear gerkers and crying ..........you need to be lisining to up beat happy songs ..........god bless

I use music as well but I have to be careful cause just the wrong song can make my mood switch in the blink of an eye.. so I pretty much have songs for every mood and it helps keeping me distracted from things..

I love to listen to music when I am walking or going somewhere by myself. Since I have social anxiety and sometimes find it hard to walk alone, music really helps making me company!

Yes, I do as well. I have different genres of music that I listen to in different scenarios. If I need to cry, there are certain songs that I know will help the tears start.

I can "hear" a lot of songs and musical works in my mind. Seems to be some kind of a gift, or sometimes, a curse. I have sometimes listened to music as a means of soothing my spirit. Since I don't understand the new devices like mp3 and ipod, I cannot turn to them. Not sure I want, or need to.

Sometimes music helps and sometimes it makes it worse. Today is a no music day. I have a few favorite movies that I can use to occupy my mind on days like today it helps me focus.
