Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
How about (I did this once) looking up on line...some key words - local friends group...etc..any word you can think of.
I did this years ago after a break up and I found that there was a group...(I don't remember what I "searched".) but I found a group...that I joined...in Rhode Island...and what they did was they posted different events they were doing..dances, hiking, golfing, rafting...and if I wanted to attend any....all I had to do was pay the fee for the day (it was reasonable) and meet up.
Actually I think it was called Meet up in Rhode Island. So type in Meet up groups...or something for your area.
I never went because instead..I joined a dating site and met a guy..LOL..
But I was interested in it...and it perked my mood.
I remember being that lonely...and sometimes I still am because I have limited my life to just myself and my boyfriend.
It helped me to join social groups where I'm at least seeing the same people, and got me out of the house so I could make my ex-boyfriend feel like he wasn't my entire social life, too. Meet up.com was good for that and AA...I don't follow that program but al-anon and AA were social groups that at least got me out of the house, and meeting people.
Try to go out without the intension of "making real friends" so you don't end up too disappointed and just enjoy the social aspect for what it is. Who knows, a friendship might develop after a while, but I found it best to just exert myself and enjoy the social events for their own sake, not with a goal of making good friends (.....I don't go out anymore since I moved an hour away to a small town with my parents)
As a part business owner, my schedule really does create a major problem with clubs and stuff. I really wanted to join a D&D group at the local hobby shop, but every meet time was within my work hours. I don't get off work till around 8-830 at night mon-friday. If I'm not at work, the business is closed.
I'm on my feet all day, the idea of a gym sounds like hell...I'm aware I have a excuse for everything :(
Thank you everyone,
HUGS
