Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

okay so i've had a pretty good weekend...
not great or anything but it was okay
so earlier today, i'm surfing the net like i always do now, and just started to feel sad, worthless, like a failure...
so i went to watch tv...and forget about me...now i'm through with tv and just feeling kinda blah...
is this typical of depression...depressed for 10-15 mins and then just blah.... this is wierd...
and i don't like it....

I would say it is typical in the fact that it has so many ranges of feelings involved but as for everyone feeling the same effects Nope

I think you need to find something to occupy your time that is positive. Anything. Hugs. Mishka.

It sounds pretty typical to me. Even non depressed people have changing moods throughout the day. It sounds like watching TV is a positive distraction for you when you are depressed. Maybe you can keep track of the things that help relieve your depression and use them as coping tools.

Sounds typical to me. It could also be the fact that you were on the computer then watching tv that brought you down. Screens put out quite a bit of blue light that can affect your brainwaves (which is why you shouldn't be on the computer straight before bed). Not sure if it affects moods, but just an idea I'm putting out there. Mwolf is right tho, find an activity to occupy your mind and focus on that.

Yes, mine is minute by minute. One minute sort of ok, the next minute really, really down.

In my experience with depression and rapid cycling, what you are experiencing is pretty common. I know, it really sucks :-(

Very typical to me as well....I wake up low then try to find some motivation...when I ve found it...I can get on with stuff. Then my mood seems to dip in the afternoons just before tea time. If I watch something sad on the telly around these times... it makes me worse but usually theres kids tv on in my house so phew xxx

sometimes oneself doesn't realize one thing or another hurt etc... perhaps and out the blue it can hit a person ones sub concious takes over and the tears can flow ,may or may not realize why but in some inceidences a person does....but than we pick our self up try to sidetrack ourself so the feeling goes away...depends...I would guess but a sign of depression most defintely...Hang in there you may not see it now but it does defuse and get better
