Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Do you think the attacks have anything in common in terms of the time of day, where you are, and/or what you were thinking?
I often find that I'll feel a rush or a pang of that crushing, sinking feeling (sometimes wishing I could just sit down wherever I am, hide my face in my knees and cry) when I'm at work, in the early morning or late evening, and/or when I've just had an anxious or depressive thought flit through my mind without really paying it much conscious attention. Being aware of my triggers definitely has helped me to head them off a bit over time.
Getting plenty of rest is also a good idea.
These sound like panic attacks, sort of. So, a good diet, good rest, some mild exersise and a good anti anxiety med might help. (Warning: Beware of benzodiazapenes if the doctor prescribes them because they can get addictive and or too much or too little can cause lots of problems--voice of experience).
