I have a interview tomorrow for a possible job and I'm so nervous...I have been out of work for far to long, and the last interview I was at I fainted.

This job is for a daycare assistant, I have never worked in a daycare before...Ahh!!! I have no experience with kids, and I did mention that on the cover letter.

My mom put doubt in my head that this place might be a shit hole because it's a private home daycare and it's in a ify part of town. But I reminded her I can't really afford to turn the job down without even going to a interview. Am I right? The lady seemed very shy on the phone and was hard to understand. I need advice. What happens if this place really is a shit hole? Or what happens if they seem weird? I have only worked for doctor offices, never out of someones home.

Aww,I expect I would be too! Thats why I have hung on to my part time job for several years..The idea of an interview is just too terrifying..

OOps no helpful.
I gues my advice would be to let yourself realise that nothing will have changed if you do get turned down..
If you do get it and hate it then I guess if you can hang on till another job comes up? If you have success in one interview then that says you will in another.. Wishing you courage!

I am trying to get SSD so I shouldn't be working but I just got a new part-time job to make ends meet. During the interview I was fine because I didn't give a shit if I got it or not. Maybe tell yourself that. Don't give a shit, if you don't get it you'll get something else. I just talked to the dude like we were friends and he called me a day sooner than he said he would. If it turns out to be a shit hole fukit keep looking!

I'm sorry you're dealing with this! My panic attacks have led to me almost fainting too, so I totally feel for you! My advice would be similar to the other posters in that try just telling yourself that you have nothing to lose by going into the interview. If nothing else, maybe it would make the next interview easier if this one goes ok. Also, are you getting any help for your anxiety through counseling or medication? ((hugs)) hang in there!

just go and see if you feel comfortable there. you may not like it or you may. take deep breaths.

do you like kids? does the lady speak english? also, you can work there on a trial basis and see how you like it. just , do your best and be yourself. talk slowly and smile. and good luck.

Me too, got an interview tommorow at a resteraunt.I havent worked in a resteraunt since high school.Freaking out and i need the job desperately too.Wishing you luck,what i' going to do is go in there like it doesnt matter and try to get hired.

Oh and the lady spoke English, but her name sounds Arabic and I think that's the accent I was picking up on as well...Not sure tho...

I used to teach preschool and I can honestly say that when I did interviews I just looked for genuine people who cared about kids and wanted to do their best. All the other stuff is teaching and training. I would ask them questions too because this needs to be a good fit for you. Ask about their curriculum, their discipline, how they work with parents, any core philosophy or mission of the center. Not only do you want to know those questions, but it also shows them that you take the job seriously and want to do quality work. There are tons of web sites that have checklists for parents to use for a daycare. Take a look at those. That will help prep you too. Good luck!

I forgot to mention that if you have questions please feel free to email me. Another helpful website is the NAEYC. This is a touch accreditation to get. Our center was the only one with it in Nebraska...brutal review but worth it for quality.
