When I was a kid under the age of maybe 13 I had so many dreams and where I wanted to go in life I wanted to be married by the time I was early twenties and be a mother shortly after that. Wanted to be so many things first a vet most my young life then different things like owning a petstore. I dreamed of my wedding day like most little girls and thought of names for my babies, wanted to be someone to make my parents and others proud but shortly after that I stopped believing in anything good happining with me and slowly stopped dreaming and just felt so different and out of place. I'm so ashamed of myself I'm nothing at all

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

You said you didn't get your dreams and that is a hard thing to deal with. I wanted to share my thoughts. They may seem dumb but ....
I have accomplished almost all of my dreams I have done many things on my "bucket list". I am lost and sometimes feel like nothing too. In fact because I have done so much sometimes I feel like I could just die and what would it matter. What is there left to do? Sometimes getting what you want isn't the answer either...
No matter how old you are or what you have gone through you can start dreaming again anytime you want. My mom went back to college when she was 65. My MIL at 63 started a cleaning business and sometimes makes $500.00 a day.
Don't know if any of that helped or not. It was just the thoughts that came into my head. I hope you will take a moment to love yourself (yes really hard I know) and to think on what you might be able to dream even if its just a tiny daydream of good.
I think I realized movies are, after all, about storytelling, and I failed as a screenwriter. OK, so my talent is more directorial and visual, the cinematography. To quote Clint Eastwood in the Dirty Harry movie, Magnum Force: "A man's got to know his limiations".
You may not have achieved those original dreams, but you can always morph and warp them into NEW dreams, that may be different from what you had in mind, but are infinitely more deep and fulfilling.
As far as being married, there are so many people who are UNHAPPILY married that you may have to count your blessings! Marriage, like anything else great, takes work. So many couples rest on each other's laurels and get lazy.
Maybe you could WORK in a pet store (or animal shelter)! It could lead to other things! Even though it doesn't pay as much as being a vet or owning the pet store, you've got to be around what you love.
The fact that you are TALKING about your dreams means that you are keeping your dreams alive, and that is good. Keep talking about that which you love!
And it was not easy, and it took a long time. But today, I am living an even better life than I dreamed. I learned a lot from this DS family; this community of healing healers.
That shame you are talking about was put on you. You did not bring that up out of yourself. It comes down to this: IN life, there are lots of voices telling you things. Why not choose to listen and act on the ones that tell you the GOOD things; the ones that are for your highest good?
Huggz 4 U!!!!
Or, if you DO give up one dream, form another, in your mind and heart, then, as Bob said, get busy on making it a reality, one small step at a time. Do SOMETHING.
