I've noticed that when people around my office become loud and annoying to the point that I'm feeling postal, I can put in ear plugs, shut my door, and after a few minutes of doing this they go away. It's like they gravitate towards me if I am annoyed, but if I can put in my earplugs and they are not bothering me anymore, they just GO AWAY.

WOW. People were annoying me earlier, I put them in, for like 40 minutes, no longer heard them, and was able to move on with my day, when I took them back out, EVERYONE was gone. AWESOME! but withing a few minutes of me not wearing them, people began gravitating to my office. like the purpose of thier lives is to annoy me with thier noise.

I know, I sound like a barrell of fun don't I? I love myself anyway,

I need some laughing gas, cause I would sniff it all day and sit in here lauging as loud and hard as possible at nothing all day and give them taste of thier own fucking medicine. I would laugh loudly everytime anyone walked by my office too, just to make them wonder if I was laughing at them.

Good technique, whatswrong! It's like energy attracts energy. Annoyance attracts annoying. Tuning out, ignoring, repels, creates deflection. Well done!

Hey sixtyplus! good to see you! I have been sick on and off for the past two months. I was out for 4 days with strep, that has been the last episode. How's your family?

Koolman, yes, I think that's exactly what happens, I mean it so makes sense.

When I was in my late teens/early 20s I worked at a gas station and at a McDonalds. I got a lot of rude customers. I made a game of it, seeing how polite I could be and respond to all their gripes as best I could.

Even if I had to say that my boss would not let me do some of the things they asked.

Some came around and softened their attitude. Others were driven crazy by it!

I am so close to earplugs. On Friday afternoon I worked late, overtime, because it's budgets and it's so much work, and meanwhile I'm moving house so need to have two of me.

All of the time I spent in overtime was totally messed up by people having loud conversations ACROSS me (it's open plan), laughing, there's one person there who comes up to my station and dances at me - like I'm bored and need entertainment. Another one stood at my desk for ages, tll I gave up trying to concentrate on my spreadsheet - she just wanted to waste 1/2 hr of my time, and then ask for a contract that would have taken 1/2 to prepare, which was urgent also, and she's just used up that time I needed pointlessly gabbling at me about crap.

My stress levels are interstellar. If it happens again I will suggest to them both that they swop desks. i am not allowed to wear earplugs or earphones at work but am seriously considering doing it anyway.
