Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Don't think that anyone outside of DS would have my username... so don't see it as a problem.
Still, to be on the safe side, I changed my Profile info.
Now....Do I actually have to go to my journal and completely lock every entry in it?? that's like 60 entries or something!!
This is upsetting.
It said "daisylou's profile at Daily Strength. jesus christ, it doesn't get much more betraying than that. I am not using my real name....but all of journals are visible, AND my photos...everything. ~sigh~
Fine, I guess nobody can be trusted, not even this "anonymous support" site.
I'll take everything off, so no one can see anything real.
just like life! *snort*
yes I am pissy and pouting, because this is B*llsh*t.
why hide who you are?
Such as:
Name, keep it unpersonal. Open the newspaper to a random page. close your eyes and point. The word under your finger is your new screen name!
Pictures: dont!
Journals: lock to friends or make them private.
Profile: keep distinguishing things out, such as phrases that can ID you. Like the name of where you work, what you do, stuff like that.
But yes, generic things are very hard to trace back. I mean, if somebody thought I was depressed (such a thought) and did a google on "depression" odds are that enough hits would register to make them give it up. But if they knew I called myself "ThePepperMan" then they could easily find me and learn stuff about me.
At this point, I'm comfortable with the security, and what can be seen from the outside.
