Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Pets - I have two cats and they really help. I recomend a lynx point (looks like a grey tabby but with bright blue eyes. Very mild mannered and care about their owners).
Hobbies/work - keep your mind off it. This doesn't always work and results may vary.
Church/God - Giving yourself over to God helped me immensely. I recognize now how he was there even when i denied him. He is the redeamer of all and loves you. Plus if you end up with a church family they can be a constant source of support and strength.

The only other thing I might add that has helped me when I'm feeling down is positive self talk. I've written down positive statements to make to myself like: "I'm capable of handling anything that comes my way" "I am loved just for being who I am, just for existing." If you want ideas, just google. You can pick ones that mean the most to you. Using them is what makes a difference for me.
And maybe self-care. Plan something you can look forward to--even if it's small. Do something kind and nice for yourself.
