Thankfully I suffered no ill effects from the pills and I am thankful now that I lived.
I am on medication now for my depression and thankfully I found this site right home from the hospital. This place has been a saving grace for me, but I also have to work hard each and every day to keep my attitude and my depression to a level I can function at. It's a matter of not only meds BUT mind over matter....which doesn't always work but if you DON'T try then you are sure to wallow in a deep pit of despair. I have had one attempt since but it was not in the form of pills but I came to my senses before I jumped. I had to pull myself out of it.
When I say you, I don't mean you personally burr...lol...I mean you as people in general. :)
Not sure if this is what you were looking for....my apologies if I misunderstood your post.

I recovered from the MI, went back to my therapist, got steered in a new direction. I dug in and applied myself to recovering. I told my secrets, I spoke of things I wouldn't even admit to myself, I learned things... and I slowly got better. There were sessions that were like backbreaking, painful labor, but I made myself do it, and I always felt better each session.
I'm now out of therapy and off my meds due to my personal financial situation. I'm on SSD and I had to turn down medicare because the premium would have made purchasing food impossible. I get by day to day by relying on what I learned in therapy. Some days are chicken, some days are feathers.
I got depressed, tried to commit suicide, got saved by a friend who screamed at me, loved me, held me, and drove me to sessions with a shrink. I worked on my problems, learned to cope and life went on. I had two more procedures done and now I'm working on walking with leg braces.
Everything comes back to what I learned in my years as a rodeo rider: You get hurt, you get up, and you go on. Sometimes you need help and there's nothing wrong with accepting it.
Is there actually such a thing as being recovered from bipolar and not having to take meds forever?
I told my b/f tonight that i am leaving him and that he is is pathetic for being desperate enough to want to be with me.
I drank on my meds and i think that has something to do with it. So i know not to do that again.
I told my brother i wanna just just be on valium again, and hes like"thats just like being dead"
ugh, i just want to stop hurting.
I've actually come quite far from all this, but am still, definately depressed. With 1 friend left, who is soon to move a few cities away, what will I have to hold together. Just me. It's doable.
I take a pill a day and it allows me to get out of bed, bathe, dress, go to physical therapy, walk across the room and back on braces, and then go out and do three miles in my chair. Without the meds, I might spiral back down where I was.
I thank all the Gods for that pill!
Are you on a mood stabilizer? The good news is that bipolar is NOT a death sentence like other illnesses. Bipolar responds very well to the right medications. My daughter is bipolar and is doing well.
Good luck to you; help is out there.
