i was contacted by someone on this board, who wanted to "help" me to believe in the Bible
so, ok, i have tons of questions about it... not so much about the Bible itself, but about the religion that loves it
so i asked... i got about 3 questions in when they gave up and ran away
*sigh*
im always afraid to ask questions to people about religion, so i never do, and i never get any answers
when i was young, i had jahova's witnesses come to my door, trying to get me to attend their church... so i let them in and we talked, several times over the summer... and they had surprisingly good answers to a lot of my questions... but eventually, my questions became too hard to answer, so they brought their spiritual leader over to talk to me... but he couldnt answer them either
i ran into the couple that had been coming over a few years later and they told me they left the church after talking to me...
i felt (and still feel) horrible! i took away their faith! what could i have done that could be worse?!?
but the questions i have still have not been answered... so every time someone who thinks they know everything about their religion tries to 'convert' me, i warn them about my track record with this kinda thing, and if they say ok, i start asking questions... but, nobody can answer them...
even my uncle, the preacher, refused to try to answer my questions
oh well. i guess its just part of God's plan, right?

The only reason negativity is easier is because we know we'll be able to cope with any good thing.
Religion is just a vehicle. Empathy goes a long way for others and the self.

i think if i was God and i wanted everyone to hear my word, in the same exact way, i could do it... but instead, not only do we get bits and pieces of it all throughout our lives, but its meaning is so different from one person to the next (or one book to the next)
wasnt the king james bible written a whole lotta years after 'The Bible' was? i always thought it was 'the official english translation' and was a bit different... like, it includes the rapture when the original version doesnt? (i could be wrong there)
but of course, in a world where a former president cant even decide on the definition of the word 'is,' of course we're all going to get a different meaning from a text as long and complicated as The Bible
if i wanted to ignore the person that was talking to me about it, i would have... and he did message me ASKING if i wanted to discuss it
but yeah i agree, you cant force your beliefs on others (he was not)... but discussing things is the only way we learn more about them from other people... and thats what im trying to do
