Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Maybe you can sing, maybe you can't. The main thing is that you have fun. I like to sing too but not around others. So it's great that you have the confidence to sing around family and you are going to a studio.
If you are wanting to be more serious about it and you are considering singing professionally then
It's probably best to find someone who you can trust and a professional to tell you whether you have the potential or not. And you may just need some voice lessons to help you.
I would look for a voice teacher to help you anyway. They can teach you how to use the body to sing properly, breath properly and proper techniques.
Have fun and good luck.
Hope you go for it! Singing is a wonderful way to connect with your inner person!!!
That's great that you signed up. And who cares whether people think you're a bad singer or not! And maybe you can sing and people are just messing with you and/or exaggerating. If not, recording yourself singing and listening to it is good to know what you need to improve on. Singing, and a billion other things, are all about practice.
I like singing. My mom used to brag about me because I'm supposedly, a good singer and she would brag about my range. She probably still brags. However, I have rarely sang in a long time because of having so little motivation that as a result, I couldn't hold the tune too long. And as of June 2012, I've had problems with my throat and a little bit of trouble breathing along with no motivation. I can sing sometimes if I have a little motivation and my throat is good, but it's not too good often.
Anyway, I have a karaoke machine, but I would mainly sing along to song that had vocals on it. The thing is, don't be shy if you can't hit a note or if you suck at singing at first! It takes practice rather than to sing out of the blue. You can start singing along to a song that you're familiar with to practice, so it doesn't have to be acapella. If you think you sound bad at any parts, turn the sound up to drown out your voice a little until you're familiar with it. Lol It's not usually about whether one has a "bad" voice or not, and people might not necessarily have "bad" voices; they probably just need a little practice.
A LOT of the time, though, it's very fun to sing off tune and enjoy singing an unconditional tune, SCREAM CRAZILY, and just have your own little fun. And who says you have to sing in front of others if you don't want to!
The important thing is that you have fun! So have fun.
I know I sound like a frog, so singing is out of the question for me. lol
