I have been depressed most of this year and didn't even know it.
I realized it today. I have volunteered for 10 years in a elementary school
teaching nature/science. This last year it became clear they no longer wanted me. I was crushed and hurt and mad at my friends there. I miss
that work so much and am trying to fill the gap. Another loss among many.
Any words of wisdom from you will be appreciated.

Are there other schools in your area, perhaps private instead of state run? How about preschools? Many libraries have reading programs where grandparents read to young children.

They kept putting me off jeccles. They wanted me to teach for the standardized tests. I have been putting off calling another school.
I must admit that I am afraid of rejection.
Try preschools, daycares, they would be happy to have some help like that! I use to work in a preschool and people came in and volunteered all the time. Have you thought of ever tutoring a student who is struggling in this subject. ?
Your experience would open doors for you in alot of areas within the social and school setting.... Maybe you could be a school mentor in the mentoring program. helping a child with school issues and homework.... don't give up.... a new door of opportunnites will open for you!
