It happens. It shouldn't and it sucks.

i know a guy whose wife mentally and physically abused him for him years ... he finally left her thank fully.

It happens! Some men have self esteem issues just like some women and some women have control issues just like some men. It happens!!

i had a wonderful uncle and he was like a dad to me. he was in the air force and as a child he was the best in the world to me... he was my hero. he could come home on leave in his beautiful dress blues. he was so handsome. he was married to this woman that was so plain.. in all the years he was married to her, she was mean to him. she would insult him in front of anyone. he loved her so much, he would never say a thing back to her.

then she got cancer. she lived way beyond all the years the doctors said she would live. she still verbally abused him. he took care of her to the max. he had plans to visit his brother in England once she passed on. his brother was also retired from the air force and retired in the UK. mind you, he wanted her to live. he loved her but her condition was deemed so critical.... finally one day he was lifting her to the bed and he had a massive heart attack... my handsome, good, loving. caring uncle lived just two more days. he looked like the picture of health..

his wife lived another 4 years after he died. life is so damm fair!!!!!!

i've seen it in my father, he's a good hardworking God fearing man married to an abusive harpy, won't leave her because of his religion, very sad he deserves so much better

i was married for 10 years to my first wife but, moved out after 8-1/2 years. In that 8-1/ year period, she tried to stab me 3 different times and achieved it once, she knocked me down in the street with a car, she kicked my legs till they bled on numerous occasions, she wound my shirt up in a hand mixer when she jabbed me in the stomach with it, and she loaded a gun, pointed at me and pulled the trigger but, it didn't fire because she didn't know how to release the safety so, my answer to this is a definite YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never understand religions that "won't let people leave a marriage", yet they almost always have rules on what gets people damned to hell for all eternity. Sigh; if a person makes a mistake and marries such a person, they can't leave???

I think Poor was laughing at the absurdity of the 'rules', not the plight of your father.

it was obvious that his situation was the one you were referring to or at least what made you bring it up, i appreciate your defending poor, but either way i don't think its a laughing matter, and I am going to defend the situation my father is in just because he is my father and would never laugh at any person directly or indirectly.

I think it's more common for men to be abused, yet it is undereported. Maybe they don't want to admit they are abused because they are supposed to be "tough"? IDK...I am also not a guy, therefore I really wouldn't know. So...

its very common. many males go to an abuse shelter where a friend of mine used to work (she has sinc emoved back to Ontario) she said that many of the men were clossted transgender people, and there wives came and caught them in their true "gender," and flipped out and abused them phsyically and mentally/verbally.
