I just need to know that someone out there cares.
My depression has controlled me for too long. I have no motivation to do anything. I don't cook for myself. So, I get packaged meals. I don not have the energy to exercise. I sleep a lot. When I am awake I watch tv. I'm bored with this life, but I do not have the energy to change it. So, I'm stuck in this flat line of depression. I just want to escape!!!
I'm grieving also. I lost my sister a week before Christmas. She was my best friend and my only connection to the outside world. I'm so lonely!

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

Depression is a tough and lonely journey that only we alone can find the pathway that leads us out and away from it. When I started on the conscious journey to end depression in my mid20's, it was a lot of constant mental work, changing my thoughts and repeating positive mantras that made me change my thoughts in the beginning. It seems childish, trite, cliche, and a bunch of hooey, but it really does work. You have to start somewhere- you have by posting here. Keep that momentum. Do something else, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem.
Above all, please remember to be kind to yourself always.
Firstly, I'm so sorry to hear about your sister, I can't even imagine. Although you didn't give too much information about your situation, it sounds like you're not making things any easier on yourself. I know that's easier said than done, but if you just tried small things to get yourself up, moving, something to keep your mind off your depression, it will slowly start to help.
I suffer from depression myself and find myself really comfortable and it's always a love hate relationship with my depression. You have to try to get yourself up and doing something. Maybe try taking a trip to the grocery store and making yourself a nice meal one day. I know it seems impossible right now, but it just takes small things to slowly but surely realize there are things you can do to help you cope more.
Are you taking medication? Talking to anyone? You should seek a therapist to talk about these issues.
Goodluck!
I have been unemployed since Jan 12. I was just like you not wanting to do anything. Sleeping longer. I felt hopeless with the current job situation under our president. Companies use you and throw you away. At least that is what I am feeling. I know some day I will have a job and be able to get out of this rut. I laid in bed one night not being able to sleep. I said I will get up tomorrow, take a shower and start doing something. I have to go out and feed chickens, let the dog out. Pets are a great joy for me. I know things will change when I get out of the negative and be thankful for the things I do have. I am blessed. You are blessed too. I lost both my father and step father, recently one of my good layers (chicken). It may be silly, but when I have to bury her, I still grieve. Tomorrow will be a new day, Old things are gone. Be ready for a new you,
she will come.
I lost my brother a year and a half ago, and lost my dad almost a month ago. The grief definitely doesn't help us come out of the depression - obviously it makes us sink further. My mom has been keeping herself busy and I admire her for it...I do only what I have to, which is go to work. Otherwise, I'm a blob on the couch or in bed.
You're not alone with how you feel. I can't offer any help, since I'm in the same place, but I definitely understand what you're going through.
I'm so very sorry about your sister. From experience, I can tell you that it'll ease. I can't say it gets better or easier, but the pain will lessen.
