Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Lost and alone.
I think it will be this way forever. It's been almost a year now since my wife left me and I lost my family. I try to take my own advice about not looking at the big picture but focusing on taking things one step at a time. I've done all that and advised others to do so as well. Is that advice futile? I've found no peace through it. This pain is insurmountable, it never lets up. I'm 52, and for the first time in my life I'm having to live without any type of love at all. I just exist in a daily routine that sucks my soul away. No therapist or counselor can help. They can comfort me for a time, but there's no solution. They can really do nothing.
My depression is situational, not clinical, and without a way to change my situation, I'm Fu(k3d.
I'll sit here in my house, constantly alone, as I've been for so long. I miss love. I miss having a woman to hold. I hate that my bed is so empty. I miss having a best friend to share things with. I don't miss my ex so much, she became very abusive, but I do miss our past. I miss the times when we could connect over our interests and laugh and love together. It's all gone now.
I'm just lost now. I don't know how long I can keep doing this.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

Sorry for your pain, The post above this one proves true that you cannot know the meaning of your life until your are deeply connected to the power that created you. That power in essence is you, It is what makes you- you.
Unfortunately we were all conditioned to react to events in life in a programmed way- we were trained to think by everything that we ever saw around us from birth that a break up is bad. What if your brain was trained to trust every hill and valley in life and that maybe everything in life that happens - does not happen To you but For you?....You see if your ex was becoming abusive - maybe your experience with this part of life has come to a peaceful end. Your healing will only begin when you embrace all and trust the divine to usher you into your next experience of growth with your self firstly and then come what may. The key is to smile through all experience. You see the reason for so much grief is because the heart throughout all remains resilient, It is its nature, So this is just you fighting you right now, Your heart wants to jump and leap and you wont let it because you tie the jumping and leaping of it to that past experience- but the heart is trying to teach you because it loves you that it can leap and jump always if you release it to do so.
So then we see that the heart is the same in nature as the Sun, No matter what the weather - it will breakthrough and shine. This is its nature and so it is with you too.
Do not block your heart from being its true nature, Do not allow your past to steal Joy of today. Connect to the Sun and radiant Energy for these things heal the soul and replenish the Spirit even through tears,
So now let it be time to be there for you- be strong for you and do these things to replenish every wounded part, Take time and focus on you, Close your eyes and picture yourself cleansed and healed and filled with a Peace and radiant Joy. Also picture in your mind, heart Peace radiating over your ex, Let this energy fill your mind , heart and soul. Breathe deeply and then release, Please try these things as well as the wonderful suggestions above, Abundant Joy to radiate within and around you always!
Happiness does not come from the outside in, it comes from the inside out.
I spent my life looking for ways to escape my depression, drugs & medication, booze, things, people, places... It's when I began to show myself some love and compassion, making the choice to be happy.
I started a gratitude list. Every morning I wrote down three things I am grateful for. Just doing this was very helpful. A good therapist to speak with helped a great deal also.
I lost everything a year ago. My wife left me after 20 years. I loved her, I spent all my energy helping her build her career. She's on top of the world now and then decided she didn't need me anymore. I was there for her at the beginning, I helped her, reassured her when she had doubts, held her when she was scared, nursed her when she had health issues, and always stood beside her. No matter what.
And when she recovered and reached the top, she decided to cut......dead-weight. Me.
As I said, It's been over a year now. I'm still alone and lost. I don't understand how people can be that cruel to each other. What drives that? Do any of you know? Can you relate or understand? I could use an explanation.
I'm not an isolationist. I need people. I need a family, I can't live without love, I can't live without companionship. Living alone like this is killing me, slowly of course, but it's just beating me down piece by piece. I fight every day against the loneliness.
And I don't see anything changing anytime soon.
I just keep holding on and moving forward...for whatever it's worth.
Thank you for your good thoughts.
