Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

At least youhave people to talk to at work, many dont have anyone to talk to at all.
Ive found on here everyone wants to be my friend but only so they can bend my ear about their problems and sadnesses, thats using people.
I was speaking to two clients today - one was a guy who is seriously disabled and cannot leave his apartment, he has trouble with going to the toilet, washing and dressing, cooking, the lot. His only company is his television. His place is grotty. Nobody visits (BECAUSE IF THEY VISIT HE JUST MOANS AND GROANS AND THEY FIND IT BORING AND SELF OBSESSED).
I spoke to another client who is also housebound and disabled, no family or friends whatsoever, no visitors whatsoever, not because they are boring but because they dont know anyone. Yet that person is smiley and sees the best, they enjoy their life. They make the most of it.
Which would you prefer to talk to?
I think you have taken a great first step in reaching out to others in this group who have similar symptoms and situations. I love what Sage has said and it is true "You are not alone" here. Your life counts and you deserve to be happy. In the meantime keep reaching out to the right people. I am hearing that there are a lot of virtual groups for people who are depressed and I think that the pandemic has made things much worse for anyone predisposed to depression. Please keep posting here.
I've come to the conclusion that being around people isn't a necessity to happiness. Sure, we need human contact and affection, but mainly people nowadays have this "how can I put one over someone for personal gain" attitude. Is aggravation and betrayal really worth the desire of "friends"? Majority of people now wants to be Instagram stars, live like Jerry Springer guests & go out of their ways to be offended by foolishness.
Find a hobby; date yourself (well it's tough now with this pandemic): cook yourself a nice meal; journal; write poetry; do art; read; listen to music; watch a film. Exercise; Meditate --whatever that you choose to enjoy make it something safe, gratifying & that positively impacts you.
So I do things to encourage myself. I read, I learn. I do my own projects. I think that most of us feel this way. The old saying is "no man is an island" but I have come to the conclusion that I am an island and my purpose is to make it be the best island it can be.
I don't know if that will help you at all. But I don't see another way. So if I am happy and content and living my life....what do I care if others don't want to be included. At least that is the mindset I am going with. Yes it is lonely. But better to be alone (for me) then to just be used and ignored.
