Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I'm sorry you've had to experience such situations with your family. It's difficult because you have to come to terms that family members aren't the support network you need and in fact can be potential triggers which make your life a living hell. I feel this is more in the venting sense but I wanted to let you know that you're not alone and there are ways out of it.
If it is possible you can reduce the contact you do have with those who make you feel this way, at the end of the day you honestly don't owe them anything especially if they are unable to resolve and be accountable for their actions. Also true family doesn't have to be blood related, I've found true family members outside of my blood family who understand and accept me for myself and not what they want you to be.
One thing that has helped me is posting on here and responding to other posts while finding those who relate to what I have experienced.
This is what I have found to help me, I hope you find those who know how to love you for you and stick with friends who make you feel good to be yourself :)
