I got fired from my job of 5 years today "because I am no longer a reliable left-hand man to help contribute to the success of the business."
I had to leave in the middle of my shift on Saturday due to a really bad panic attack. My normal meds weren't working, so after an hour I decided to go the the ER. This is the first time I have ever missed work in my 5 years there and I was fired for it!!! I was second in charge at this location.... with 80+ employees under me. How could this happen to me? I was good at my job and cared about it.

what disgusts me is one of our managers was giving away hundreds of dollars of food and alcohol to friends a week, getting drunk on the job, and allowing employees to drink and take alcohol with them when they left work, and she only got a write-up!!!
I lost my job over 10 years ago due to down-sizing. That is hard to fight.
We had a girl at my company who was bipolar, and she was fired for a response in a group meeting in which the f word came out, and it turns out here meds were not right. A week later, she was back and on the correct meds. You should be protected somehow.

I believe the anxiety developed as all the stress over time got to me. Noticed my hands shaking a lot more, my heart beating faster, tension in my muscles all the time. The muscles in my left thigh twitched non-stop for about a month straight and made me really fatigued.
In reality, I am glad to be forced to move on with my life, but the manner in which it is happening I do not like. I was a hard worker and was good at what I did!! If I were to get fired I would at least want it to be for something good, like telling off some jerk customer in my face yelling at me for something beyond my control..... but no, instead I am fired due to a condition I cannot control, and that is not right.
