I found my division. The division I was supposed to graduate with. I was supposed to go to A-School with some of those people. And now here I sit. I feel like such a failure. I told some of those girls, I said straight to them, "Just hold on. If we stick together, we'll get through this and we'll be in the fleet. Our families will be so proud of us." And here I sit. I found one I had gotten close to. One who I wish I could talk to. But after I got put into SEPS, she wouldn't even look at me. She wanted nothing to do with me. Because I failed. Because I was supposed to stay. I was supposed to graduate and finish with her. I want to reach out. Tell her why I left. But I'm afraid. I'm afraid she hates me because I didn't hold on. I feel so useless.

You did and followed what you thought was right. You are not useless. You made a decision and stuck with it. Usless is not making the decision.

Your title made me want to hear the story. But, honestly, I don't understand what any of this means. What's A-School and SEPS?

I was in the Navy. I enlisted in June. Was in for a week and a half. Then got discharged for deppression and borderline personality disorder. I could have lied. I should have. I should have stayed with them. I am a failure.

Well, maybe this choice was better for everyone. They say that when one door closes another door opens. Draw a door and open it yourself, is what I always say.

Well said Cypressmoon. No frigging ship comes in, no door opens, no opportunity knocks. WE HAVE TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN IN OUR LIVES. I know this because of wasting time waiting for lady luck and that is such a load of shit. Nothing comes but by hard work.

Why do I still feel like I failed them? Why can't I simply reach out and contact them? Tell them why I didn't stay? Why I was separated from the Navy? Why can't I explain to them?

Why do you need to? You were with these people for less than two weeks? Not to be harsh, but the people who made it through have bonded and let go of those that did not because that is what is required of the job- it's not personal.
Time to give up hope of living a better past. You can't go back and you can't change what's already happened. Learn from it and move on.

I made a promise to those girls. I feel the need to explain myself. What if telling them helps me move on? What if them understanding helps me to not feel like this? I don't know why I need that closure. But the need is still there.
