Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I'm tired of playing the I'm ok role because I know I'm not ok.
i have two beautiful children a 4 year old and a 1 year old it's been a long and painful road to motherhood that i feel disappointed in my self for feeling so unhappy, I've tried medication but it only makes me really drowsy, i tried talking to my husband about it but his reaction was dry.
I'm having trouble wanting to go to work, I don't want to socialize with people or smile I'm over it all.
I feel alone

Everyday I feel more and more sick. Being in pain every day, I've learned to disguise it. So well that others don't believe my pain when I speak of it. Needing help but only receiving negative responses, I find my way but pay for it later. I absolutely need the rest but there's pressing things to be done.

Ugh my depression is really being triggered by the grief of losing my mom. Ugh it sucks. I wish this pain would leave me already.

I have 2 teens 14 and 16. Being a mother is so challenging at every age. They definitely can bring out the best and worst in you in a matter of minutes.
I hope you can find a reason to smile today. I'm here if you want to talk. Hang in there
What I can tell you is that for me I did finally find the right med. (Some people can manage without.....because of things I do still have to deal with I do better to stay on mine.) I went from feeling lonely, depressed, and feeling like I had nothing to offer (keeping quiet , trying not to bother anyone and deal with it myself.........NOT a good idea by the way)
I learned to look at people. There are so very many sad and lonely people....struggling with all sorts of issues. I work around people... I started to simply smile or say a friendly hello to others . (Of course now I have graduated to an actual conversation at times and am now WAY TOO CHATTY. Hubby threatens to shut me up with duct tape........He is as compassionate and understanding as your hubby I would guess. lol)
I think you will be glad you have come onto this site DS. I have found several new friends (actually got another friend of mine to come here as well) For me, it helps especially when feeling so isolated to reach out and share with others who have gone through or are going through the same things. (Gives us some sort of validation that we DO struggle......but that WE CAN GET PAST this.)
I would say reach out to others (on here is a good start) , try to take a little time for you (I am guilty of ignoring this one myself....this is when I get more miserable and overwhelmed) and hang on.
PS Get a hug from the two little ones that will help (provided it is not after they have just done a fingerpaint mural on your wall. lol) Or maybe get a helpful hand from hubby.
I wish you all the best
We all feel lonely at times, misunderstood, uncared for, uncared about, bored, disappointed, wantimg different. These are just feelings. Feelings change throughout the day. It is our actions that matter. Our feelings follow our actions. Our actions follow our thoughts. What we think and why we think our thoughts is important.
Sounds like your husband isn't understanding what you truly need at the moment. Maybe share it with him using different wording so he will be more receptive. Or at a time when he is able to listen if he is a busy man.
Motherhood is a very lonely profession at times yet there a billions of mothers all over the planet so you are not alone in any mother probs at any age of your children now or in the future. All mothers of the world join hands together with you and with each other in a common bond of understanding and experiences. We are all in this motherhood together. Though many of us walk in it alone in our area of the world. We are not really alone. There is another mother just down the street from us.
It usually takes two years after stopping nursing for the female body to recover completely back to health after childbirth and nursing an infant. Hormone changes and post partum depression can linger. Good sleep. Plenty of nutritious meals and good vitamins to help on your recovery to pre-pregnancy health and vitality is essential to get back on your feet.
If you are struggling with two little ones-- find a play time outside the home, or library storytime, or sports to get them involved in, or a book with new activities that you can do with them both inside and outside. Make ordinary chores fun--my 3 yr old used to help rinse dishes and put them in the drying rack. She like "catching all the fish and sharks in the sink" and putting them in the drying rack. Get a nap when they nap. Extra sleep, a walk outside, and good food always helps wonders.
Exhausted--get a babysitter and have a break. Can't afford lots of this--find a mom's co-op to exchange babysitting etc or start one.
Some meds can really mess with the head and body (some have bad side effects--including suicidal thoughts as a side effect) when sometimes we just need to talk things out or get more food and sleep. If finished nursing--more water is needed on a daily basis. Balanced nutrition and good vitamins. Boost your life with a joke book to make you laugh again
Find pleasure in simple things. Laughter is essential to recover health. One man had a terminal illness and only wanted to watch funny movies in the hospital. He laughed himself out of the hospital and back to health.
Life is for living to the full. You get to choose how you want to live it or how you want to change it for the better. You get to guide and lead your little ones in their exploration, wonder, interest, and excitement for life. They have such a zest and energy--tap into it-run with their curiosity and make each day fun. It is worth it. So are you!!
There is no need to replace negative self-talk with positive self-talk, simply be aware of negative self-talk and, avoid entertaining it anymore and, the end result? You will be at peace with yourself.
Find internal peace first and, the joys of life will flow thereafter. Remember darling, happiness is an inside job, not an outside one as many of us have been led to believe and, fallen into the trap of.
