Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

My best friend just died in a freak boating accident last week and I don't know what to do anymore. My meds haven't worked in over month and all I can think about is how much I want to stop existing. I'm actually jealous of my friend for dying and I find that pretty messed up...but recently on top of everything else I'm going through I'm having nightmares about her death. I wake up each drenched in sweat and I can't breathe. A good way to describe how I feel is there is an anchor tied to my feet and I'm drowning. Every time I try to get better something (like my friend's death) always get in the way. I don't want to be here anymore because all that happens to me is more suffering. I am not getting any better.

Today I filed an application online for three things from the State of New Jersey. I surprised myself! I wasn't expecting to do it but one thing led to another and I did it. I've been putting it off. Another thing that I'm feeling good about is my outside kitties. They aren't running away anymore and let me get quite close. Two of them were relaxing on my steps a little bit ago. I...

Your feeling.
Things that can help is keeping an open dialog, exercise (I know that one is hard when you don't want/ can't to move to begin with), eating better, 15 mins of sunlight a day, meditation... cheesy things like that actually do work. Not all at once but they help.
It is also true that bad days will continue to happen no matter what. It is ok to accept that as a truth. To let those days come and pass. Just always be working on managing your depression and allowing yourself to rest when you need it.
You are not alone and keep reaching out. Keep fighting but rest when you need rest.
Right now I am struggling too. I also just started a new med but with all that's going on and the fact that it is a tiny dosage to start....my doctor did say if i had any problems just give her a call. That is just what I did and she increased my dosage.
After over a month and with such a tragic loss on top of everything else, you need to talk with your doctor. They can either increase your dosage or maybe try something else.
I have been deep in that black hole many years ago. I have also made it out and onto the hillside amidst the sunshine. Trust me it feels SO MUCH BETTER there.
PLEASE don't prolong talking to the dr. Also, if you don't have the courage or finances to reach out for counseling or therapy right now, I hope you will at lest check back on here. I have found many warm, caring people who will gladly listen and care and offer some hope and feedback.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
