Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I get what you are saying and don't want to give advice on a thread that maybe doesn't need it, but I have found meditating and learning to let go one of the best tools in trying to combat my feelings of depression.
Sorry if that was uncalled for.
I don't have a problem with advice. Except for taking it. That's tough.
Somehow that's mostly a thing of the past. Maybe it had to do with my hormones when I turned 40, I sure didn't do anything to work it out.
But I can be messed up plenty without showing anger. No shortage of ways.
that's really frustrating....ends up in tears and all snotty and swollen......
Very hard to deal with anger in "healthy' ways....the healthy ways are not very satisfying.
Use breathing techniques and logic...that's what I do.
good luck, and peace~
On the PTSD board we did a exercise which was a really fun healthy way for us to release some anger towards our abusers or in general anyone who has pissed us off. We wrote out our "Anger Fantasies". How would you punish that one person? How would you get your vengeange so that you could move forward. Now this is a great tool in order to release those pent up feelings..just don't ever really act on them.
I know I feel a lot of anger. But not always. And I'm depressed.
blah help me someone
I would have loved the chance to physically hurt my step-father. The things he did put him beyond forgiveness. If there is a Hell I'm sure he's there, although he may be one of Satan's right-hand men.
Most of the other people I'm mad at enough to wish I could get revenge, I let them do what they did because of my own low self-esteem. I'm more mad at myself than them. I hope I can continue to learn and progress, to stick up for myself.
When I get angry, I get flushed with adrenaline that I do nothing with. I start trembling and get a very queasy feeling. The frustration and sadness follow quickly on its heels.
Sometimes, I think I might be okay if I could just hit someone; but I'm too frightened to do so. I'm even more frightened that I wouldn't stop.
