Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I just feel so alone and depressed. Ive suffered from depression my whole life and now, im starting to have suicidal thoughts. I can't live this way anymore. im safe but i feel like this is my destiny, that this is how im supposed to live my life, that things will never get better.

Sorry you are feeling this way. If you have not received professional help, I would recommend that you contact a psychiatrist who can properly evaluate and make a diagnosis. The doctor may recommend medication and talk therapy. A therapist would be very beneficial for you to talk to. It's important that you talk about how you are feeling and what you are feeling and find what resource your depression is coming from. Good luck to you.

I don't know if your spiritual or not, but this scripture in the Bible helps me when I feel down. Psalms 34:17.

Revelation 21:4 is a good scripture too. :)

So I just joined this site today and your post was the first I saw. I'm sorry you are feeling this way. I know how hard it can be when someone is in a dark place to feel like there is no hope. Speaking from my own experience anyway. I came here to find help and advice also to offer a ear to listen should anyone need it so I thought I would start here.

Who told you that your destiny was to be born, grow up and then commit suicide? I actually think you were created for so much more. Like others who have posted here, I read the Bible and I have a relationship with God. We are not promised to have "good" lives but having a relationship with God helps me get through life because I know I am never alone. Before I gave my life to the Lord, I often was depressed, felt lonely, felt worthless, felt used and abused and felt my life was meaningless. Now, I can live by myself and have peace, joy, and not feel alone (though sometimes you will still fill lonely). I agree speaking with a therapist would be beneficial. You can shop around. If you meet a therapist and it doesn't seem like the relationship is a good fit, find another one. The counseling relationship can only be effective when there is trust and when you feel comfortable with the counselor. Also remember that it takes time to heal. There is no magic pill to make you feel happy and fulfilled. It is a process that requires your motivation and your efforts. You can have a fulfilling and wonderful life despite your circumstances. You just have to believe.
