I went to the Doc on Monday - he added Risperdal (1mg) to my prozac (20 mg). My prozaz has always worked for me, but over the past several months I have been going through a lot of personal/emotional stuff and the prozac just hasn't been doing it's thing for me. He said the Risperdal will help me supplement my AD for a while.
The issue is that I'm on day 2 and I'm INSANELY drowsy and zombie like. I take it at night (only half right now to adjust) and I wake up like a zombie. My eyes don't want to open and I just cant keep myself from crawling back into my bed. Even when I force myself into the shower and to the computer. I feel like my head is in a heavy fog. I feel like I'm on a tranquilizer.
Does anyone know - will this go away? My sister is on ambilify and said the same thing happens with hers and it took a few weeks to "lessen" not even go away... Will the DR even hear me out when its only been 2 days?!
I have kids to care for and myself... to me, this is only bringing a whole new issue to the table. I need energy to keep myself from feeling more crappy.
I'm new to dealing with Pysch DR. My PCP is who initially put me on prozac and I was fortunate enough to respond very well and just move forward. I feel like if i call the pdoc - he'll just tell me to hold out longer. I don't feel like I can do this any more than another day...Im SO thankful i work from home and can be zombie like behind the screen.
I feel better at least venting a bit about it and any words of advice or feedback is much appreciated.

also you say you take it at night - is that at bedtime if so perhaps bring the dose forward to when the children go to bed that way the effects in the morning might not be quite so bad
good luck - getting on new meds can be as traumatising and the reason you need them

I have to call today about something else so I will also mention this. Maybe a quarter of the pill will be enough for me.
On a side note - i LOVE your pic. That dog is so adorable. I want a doggie right now so bad. I wish I could babysit someone's doggie.
