Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Like with most things in life, depression in it's severity and longevity are different from person to person. Me personally? I have had major depression for over ten years. But before that puts you off, there are times when it hasn't effected me at all, and times (like now) when it has taken over my life.
The things you need to know are:
1. If you suffer from depression, it isn't your fault nor does it make you a bad person. It is an illness like any other. It doesn't mean you are crazy or insane or inadequate in any way :). It means you are human.
2. It is manageable and treatable. There will be times where you may need some extra help (medicine, psychologists, psychiatrists) but there are also times where you will have it completely under control.
3. During your 'dark' times remember that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Help is available if you struggle to see that little light. Just keep pushing on.
If you would like to know more, just send me a message. Keep pushing on and never give up!
