To knock on my neighbor's door and give him and his wife a gift of cookies to thank him for helping me during the blizzard with his snowblower? I would really like to thank him, but the knocking on someone's door makes me incredibly anxious especially since I don't know them well enough.
I would also like to give the nurses & certified nursing assistant's where my mom is staying a gift of cookies but that also makes me nervous. :\

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Grab the cookies, .. head over to their place, knock on the door. When answered, extend the cookies and say:
""Thank you for helping me during the blizzard with your snowblower."
Head over to where your Mom is staying ...with plenty of cookies. Go to the nursing station and with a smile, hand them to whoever is there ... the 'floor nurse'. Tell him/her:
"This is for the nurses & certified nursing assistant's who give so much to patients like my Mom."
That .... at a minimum should do. IF, IF, IF you have the capability, let the conversation go forward from there ...answer casual questions and continue to give praise and appreciation. Keep it short, sincere, and you will have done two very, very nice and admirable things.
If WV's suggestions are still too scary, then there is always the "Ding Dong Ditch" method. Put the cookies in a nice container and put them on the front porch outside their front door. Leave a note that says what you wrote above. Then knock on the door/ring the doorbell, and run like crazy!
Hope it works out for you!
I really like what WV said and like Jonroland said, ( and me having panic disorder ), a lot of times the aniticipation and 'fear' are much worse than getting out there and ' doing it '. If you really don't feel like you can face your neighbors ,then you can do what PepperMan suggested. I really think though that both situations can't go any way but great cause you are giving goodies :0) and I know it's going to be so appreciated! You may be surprised at how easily it goes and have some nice conversation with your neighbors and the nurses or aides you see. You know I DO UNDERSTAND , and do whatever you feel you can do. I really have a feeling if you can step out of your comfort zone ( and like I said, I know how real the anxiety is ) that it's going to be a good experience and wouldn't it be fun to see the joy on their faces knowing it's because of your kindness and generosity?
Love you!!

I also thank everyone else. Your encouragement and words are a big help to me. I am baking some cookies now and will probably bake some tomorrow so hopefully I can give them out on Saturday.

THE CHICAGO TRAINS WERENT RUNNING THAT NIGHT.
SHE SAID I REMINDED HER OF HER DAUGHTER WHO WAS AWAY AT COLLEGE.

Remember ... there is nothing wrong with telling the truth ... and it will SET YOU FREE.
It is a TRUTH you appreciate these people. You are simply expressing it to them ...it is a totally good thing ... for you, them, and the universe. Truth is liberating .. enjoy it. I know you can do this, ... and I am very impressed.
